I've recently joined a Facebook group called "Photography Contest," and there's a different theme each week. I thought it might be interesting to post my entry each week on this blog too, just for kicks & giggles. I'm just sorry I can't share the rest of the entries as well.

This week's theme was "Insects," and there were several interesting entries. Here's mine:

It was taken when we visited Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield last summer.

Here's the other shot I got of him. Boy, was he obnoxious!

The thing about insect shots is that they're PURE LUCK! Insects are so unpredictable, and it's hard for even the best of cameras to focus on something in constant motion.

I also thought about entering the pics of the caterpillars I posted a while back. Those were fun, but I'm not sure they are (technically) insects.

My friend Ginger graciously hosted a mother-daughter picnic yesterday for the girls in our Keepers group. Her family owns a lake house, and it was the perfect setting.

I walked around the grounds with my camera while the girls played together. I haven't had a chance to photoshop any of the pictures, but they were so pretty I just had to share them.

Neighborhood Lake

We went to our neighborhood lake this weekend to help clean up all of the overgrowth around the banks. And in the process, we discovered that there are some good-sized fish in the lake (bass, I think), two geese who've made their nest there (with FIVE eggs!), and tons of catapillars that hang out near the bridge!

I don't know how long they've been there, but I read somewhere online that they take from 28-35 days to hatch. We'll have to keep watching them over the next month or so.

There were tons of caterpillars near the bridge. Allie is holding a couple of them:

Papa Goose would NOT relax while guarding his nest, and kept hissing at us for coming too close!

One of the cutest creatures we saw at the lake today. I think I might take him home with me...

Now that the weather is warming up, I'm planning to have some serious FUN with my camera! I'm planning to keep my batteries charged & have plenty of memory cards with me at ALL times.
